The 2016-17 season is set to bring a massive restructure to the Vyktoryan football pyramid, which many see as too thinly spread out and too large for the amount of teams playing.
VFA President HRM James I has today formulated a plan to bring Vyktory in line with a better footballing future.
The pyramid shall consist of the Elite Leagues One, Two and Three, all consisting of 16 professional teams each, the National League Premier, consisting of 16 semi-pro teams, the National League East and National League West, both consisting of 12 semi-pro teams each and the State Leagues of Harrisville, Jamestown, Stamford and Georgetown, all consisting of 10 amateur teams each.
The first order of business is that at season's end, the 48 teams based in the cities and towns of Vyktory will be placed in the Elite League, with team reputation deciding whether they enter One, Two or Three. The 16 teams as named by the Vyktoryan fans, such as Firry Fandom United and Dark Assassins FC, will cease to exist and instead be replaced with more city and town teams.
Also to consider is that the top 8 teams in Vyktory's East and West regions will receive a derby team in the National League East and West. while the top 4 teams in each state that do not have a derby team will receive a derby team in the State Leagues.
This means not only will there be 48 main teams, but the top 32 markets will receive a second, albeit lesser team, creating a total of 80 teams in established markets, leaving 48 teams to be created in new markets.
The locations and names of the 48 new teams are yet to be decided, as are the names for the 32 new teams in established markets, and they will probably remain undecided until the offseason.
Speaking of the offseason, rumblings have emerged of the Vyktoryan season being moved to a mid-November to late-June season, to ease the pressure on the national team after the international tournaments as well as allow ample time for the software package (VFA Football Toolkjit) for managing the league to release and become available for use1.
1 - Football Manager, the game I use to simulate Vyktory's league, releases yearly around November, and it's quite easy to convert editor files from the previous version, but it takes a fair amount of work to get the stats in. I refer to this ICly as VFA Football Toolkit.
